I think too much when I’m dancing…Mostly I’m trying to remember which steps I’ve done and which ones are still on the “To Do List.” Most of the women reading this are laughing because they all know that I really only know five steps anyway, so what’s to remember? Regardless of my lack of depth, I am regarded as a competent dancer. That is not to say that anyone of importance would rate me as competent, it’s just that I’ve managed to learn my few steps well enough so that the untrained eye would never notice. Fortunately for me, no one is really watching me anyways, they are always watching my partner. Thank God that I’m not a girl, I don’t think that I could handle the pressure. Of the ladies I dance with I have seldom been disappointed. I’ve stepped on their toes, I’ve dropped a couple, and I accidentally reached for a hand and grabbed something unexpected. Be that as it may, I have never heard a cross word or even seen a scowl. The best part about dancing is that women are “OK” with who we are while we are trying to dance. I might have a hundred flaws in real life but when I dance I have only one; “I can ask only one lady to dance at a time.”

I don’t know how your life is going but I get great satisfaction when I am able to make someone happy, even if it is only for three minutes. I’m certainly not God’s gift to anyone, even my dog would tell you that, but I am good for something and I’m glad I found it. I think to myself, I could have spent my entire life and never discovered the joys of dancing. Of course if it weren’t for dancing I would have written the “Great American Novel” but heck…who cares. Sharing a dance and a smile with the lovely ladies I have come to know, and those that I have yet to meet, have made fame and fortune a fair trade. I hope you write a story on the dance floor too. If you do, you will have found one of the great truths of life and that is: “What we share with others is returned to us ten fold.” So, give something to the dance and the person in your arms, and you shall find rewards beyond all expectation.

Anyway, that’s my story…cha, cha, cha

Randy
